Rashid Riaz
VP, Head of Finance, Canada
Rashid Riaz was appointed VP, Head of Finance, Canada at Sompo in October 2023.
In this role, he leads finance function for Sompo’s Canadian operations and is based in Toronto.
Mr Riaz is a senior finance executive with more than 20 years of experience across the insurance, reinsurance, captive insurance, special purpose vehicles, Lloyd’s market, and financial services sectors.
Prior to joining Sompo, Mr Riaz served as Vice President, Finance & Operations at the Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange and previously held finance leadership positions with AIG Canada and Marsh & McLennan Bermuda.
Mr Riaz is a member of CPA Canada and holds the CPA, CA designation. He is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds the FCA designation. In addition, he holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
