Melanie Hoad
VP, Legal & Compliance, Canada
Melanie Hoad was appointed VP, Head of Legal and Compliance, Canada at Sompo in January 2025.
She leads the legal and compliance functions for Sompo’s Canadian operations, provides legal advice across the business and serves as Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer.
Ms Hoad has more than 20 years of legal and insurance industry experience. Prior to joining Sompo, she held senior legal, risk and compliance roles and began her career in private practice, focusing on commercial and insurance litigation.
Ms Hoad holds a Bachelor of Laws in Law from The University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts in English from McGill University. She is a Chartered Insurance Professional, Certified Risk Manager and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada.
